“Bzzz ffft.. Wow, that sounded like you were receiving 4 emails at once!” - Gouache & pencil.

Gees Voorhees is an illustrator currently living in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Her illustrations inhabit a world of their own. A world recognizable by a self-
deprecating sense of humor and a love for things that are a little bit wrong.

She is a multidisciplinary illustrator who in her personal work loves to work with all kinds of media: video, photography, animation, installations, textile and found objects.
Her commissioned work has appeared in newspapers and magazines but also as murals and on album covers. Influences include vintage sci-fi paperbacks, Jim Henson, underground comics, vintage erotica, sports and nature. Gees’ love for film is obvious in the storytelling nature and elaborate details of her drawings.

She holds a BA in Illustration from the Willem de Kooning Academy (Rotterdam). There she
also attended fashion and photography classes. As a longtime member of the illustrious
Kamp Horst collective she makes large murals full of subversive popculture references.

When she is not in her studio, she’s probably walking her dog, Mambo. Or she might be treasure hunting in a thriftstore or busy watching some horrible eighties movie.

At the moment she teaches a riso- and a screenprinting workshop at MK24 in Amsterdam.
